Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been here, so let's blitz through a quick update.

I've been making this golden milk latte every morning. It's a little bit chai-ish, if you pretend, and I'm banking on the voodoo powers of turmeric. Magical herbs and spices isn't really my thing, but you know, what can you lose? Not related, but I also made these this weekend.

Speaking of magic, Mesick's Mushroom festival was last weekend. It's really just the season of the most random festivals.  We went, we ate corndogs, we lost Ryan to the flea market, and Duke cried a million tears over the carousel. It was a blast.

I've been reading! Like, probably more this year than I have in all the last five years combined. I made my New Years resolution to read 12 books this year and I'm 9 in. Part of it is Duke getting bigger and not needing me quite as much, so I can read while he plays, or my old favorite, reading for ten minutes before I fall asleep at night. He'll hang with me, reading his own book, which rocks. We hit the library once a week or so to swap things out, and it just feels so good to have this habit back on the agenda.

I've been on a Tudors Dynasty binge. I started by reading The Boleyn Inheritance, then decided to read some non-fiction to get the real scoop (The Other Tudors: King Henry VIII's Mistresses and Bastards), cruised right on to The Six Wives of Henry VIII, and I've been listening to random podcasts too. One recommended watching The Tudors, which is not cool for watching with kids, but is on Netflix, so whatever. I think I'm going to force myself to snap out of it, once I finish this book, but that's a good two weeks or so away, so don't be surprised if you hear some crappy old English coming out of this mouth. I'm fully immersed.

Speaking of Duke getting bigger, I really feel like we're in the easiest season since having him. He plays independently, understands danger, is 95% potty trained and sleeps through the night. And talks. All of this in the last five-ish months, and candidly, my stress level from not being needed every single second of the day has decreased in such a significant way. Obviously there's new challenges, but I'm just really enjoying where things are at right now.

I've been on an online shopping spree, because I have talked myself into believing I need summer stuff, and because there are only two places to shop in this town and I have shopped them clean. I just grabbed these shoes and I can't wait to wear them.

It's been raining all weekend and it's throwing me back into a slight seasonal depression. Fingers crossed for some sun because CAN you believe it's almost Memorial Day weekend?

Happy Weekending you guys!
